Temperature-dependent enzyme activity using catalase

LB4.2.3.3
Temperature-dependent enzyme activity using catalase
Temperature-dependent enzyme activity using catalase

Description

In this experiment, the temperature dependence of the enzyme catalase is investigated. For this purpose, the splitting of hydrogen peroxide by catalase is carried out at different temperatures and the enzyme activity is measured indirectly via the gas evolution. The students recognise that proteins show low activity at extreme temperatures (cold and hot) and have a temperature optimum.
