There are several thousand different bee species worldwide, the majority of which live as solitary bees. Only a few species form colonies like the honeybee.
The film follows a bee colony over the course of a year, from spring to winter. It shows the clearly structured roles of the bees inside a hive. What tasks do workers, drones and the queen fulfil? How is a colony organised, how are new colonies formed and how is the survival of a colony ensured?
You learn about the profession and working methods of the beekeeper and how bees can communicate and how their dances can be interpreted.
All accompanying materials are differentiated for 4th-6th grade and 7th-8th grade.
