Separation by melting and by magnets

LC1.1.3.3
Separation by melting and by magnets
Separation by melting and by magnets

Description

The students learn about two other separation methods called separation by melting and by magnets. They separate sulphur powder from sea sand using the melting-out method and iron powder from polystyrene using the magnetic separation method. You will realise that the material properties of melting point and magnetisability make these separation processes possible.
