The Biuret test

Description

In this experiment the students get to know a chemical detection for proteins. For this purpose, different samples are mixed with Biuret solution. The students realise that a positive detection is indicated by a violet colouring of the sample. This is caused by a complex formation of the copper ions with the peptide bonds.
