Description

Ethanol is a short-chain alcohol with a hydrophobic residue (alkane chain) and a hydrophilic residue (hydroxy group). Ethanol can therefore dissolve water and oil. In this experiment, the students find out that ethanol is a versatile solvent because of this property.
