Description

In this experiment, the isomers 1-propanol and 2-propanol as well as the isomers 1-butanol and 2-butanol are heated to boiling in a distillation apparatus and their boiling points are determined. The students learn that changes in chain length and isomerism result in different boiling points and can establish initial rules for this.
