Charge transfer through a pendulum

LP3.1.5.2
Charge transfer through a pendulum
Charge transfer through a pendulum

Description

In this experiment, the students explore the force effect of an uncharged metal plate on a charged metallic pendulum. They will learn about the phenomenon of induction and that induction leads to an attraction between a charged body and an uncharged body due to charge displacement. They also get to analyse the electrostatic force effects between 2 conductive bodies with the same polarity. In doing so, they learn that in the case of bodies with the same polarity, attraction due to induction and electrostatic repelling occur together, whereby the influence of the induction is predominant in the close range.
