Description

The students learn the operating principle of an electroscope and make the pointer for an electroscope.

They learn that

  • a charged body can transfer charges to another body by touching it.
  • an electroscope can be discharged easily by touching it.
  • an electroscope can indicate the magnitude of a charge but not its polarity.
  • it can distinguish between different polarities when both are present.
