Description
Using waves in water to demonstrate wave propagation, reflection, refraction, interference, diffraction, and the Doppler effect. The oscillations of a diaphragm in the supply equipment are transmitted, in the form of fluctuations in air pressure, via variously shaped wave-generators to the surface of the water. Single wave generation, namely generation of a wave packet by buttons. Shining a light through the ripple tank projects an image of the waves onto a vertical screen via a plane mirror (it is possible to place the tank on an overhead projector). An image of a stationary image of the waves can be produced by synchronising a stroboscopic light with the wave generator.
