System
This classic magnetic levitation control problem is now presented in a new and innovative form. A hollow steel sphere with a diameter of 25 mm is suspended in space with visually appealing results and suitable time constants. Both analogue and digital solutions are implemented.
Practical sockets on the housing panel allow analogue controller amplification and compensation components to be changed quickly.
The device is self-contained in analogue mode with built-in power supply. In digital mode, the system operates in a MATLAB/LabVIEW environment (MATLAB™ / LabVIEW™ not included), allowing the system parameters to be determined and the system to be modelled.
Method
The equipment includes student experiments in the laboratory with non-hazardous low voltage. Experimental procedures are carried out using a manual in printed or electronic form.
A MATLAB™ or LabVIEW™ licence is required for this experiment and is not included in the scope of delivery
The equipment may require additional software modules.
Target group
An internship aimed at further education programmes at technical colleges and technical universities.
