Description

This course familiarises students with the most important functions of a programmable logic controller (PLC). The trainer packet for Siemens  PLC  S7-1512C-1 PN contains assembly parts and accessories including the necessary PLC.

The teaching packet consists of:

  • SIMATIC S7-1500 COMPACT CPU, CPU 1512C-1 PN, 32x DI, 32 DO, 5 AI, 2AO
  • SIMATIC PM 1507 24 V/8 A
  • SIMATIC STEP 7 Professional
  • ETHERNET cable
  • Base plate PLC

Description of the base plate PLC:

  • 24 digital inputs, 16 of these with touch incremental switch and 16 digital outputs are directly accessible via the safety connector (4 mm).
  • 32 digital inputs and 32 digital outputs are accessible via 27-pole plugs configured for MCS.
  • 2 analogue input channels and 2 analogue output channels are accessible via safety connectors (4 mm).
  • A maximum of 8 analogue input channels and 4 analogue output channels are accessible on two 30-pole plugs, depending on the PLC.
  • Profi-Net is directly connected to the CPU.
  • The power supply is connected with the switch via a protected plug.
  • The power supply is designed for an output of 190 W at 120 V, 60 Hz and 230V, 50 Hz. The mains voltage is automatically recognised and switched.
  • The control voltage amounts to 24 v DC at max 8 A.

Method

Student experiments are carried out following the tasks set in the experiment description.

Students completing vocational training in electrical engineering for a trade or industry are the target group addressed. The course is geared toward advanced learners. So prior knowledge is recommended:

  • Basics of contactor controls
  • Programming of PLC
  • Instruction in the dangers of electrical technology

The following sets are recommended for further learning:

  • E6.5.2.1 a Contactor controls with modules, 24 V
  • E6.5.2.2 a Contactor control with experimental plates, 24 V
  • E6.5.2.5 Controlling with limit and proximity switches
  • E6.7.1.1 ASIMA for small controllers.
  • E6.7.2.1 MCS system 4 control over PLC
  • E6.7.2.2 MCS system 6 stations control over PLC with Profi-Bus
