Experimental procedures are carried out with transformers on experimental plates and with profile frames.
Learning objectives
- Protective measures and electrical safety
- Setup of power systems according to circuit diagrams
- Use of a power analyser as a measuring device
The autotransformer is a material-saving transformer design. In contrast to conventional transformers, the primary and secondary circuits share a winding with a tap. The autotransformer therefore does not provide galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary sides. The autotransformer has a complex equivalent circuit diagram and can only be described to a limited extent by short-circuit, open-circuit and load tests.
Highlights
Experimental procedures are carried out with a power analyser.
Measurement and media system
The tests can be carried out with the 7731901 Machine Test CASSY or with the Power Analyser CASSY.
The Power Analyser CASSY Plus can be operated quickly in all functions directly via the display, the rotary knob and the buttons on the device. All settings and measurement results can be saved on the device and quickly called up again later or simply downloaded.
In addition, the Power Analyser CASSY Plus can be fully controlled in real time via RJ45 Ethernet, W-LAN and USB-C interfaces.
These interfaces can be used by the following software
- CASSY Lab 2 for drives and energy systems,
- MATLAB® and LabVIEW ™
- Lab Docs Editor Advanced
The following integrated servers are available in the Power Analyser CASSY for the local media connection of at least four end devices simultaneously.
For more information, please refer to the product data 727111 Power Analyser CASSY Plus.
Target group
The target group is industrial trainees and students specialising in electrical engineering. The course offers experiments at an intermediate level for vocational schools and at the same time provides the necessary insights into machine behaviour for a scientific interpretation in the bachelor's degree course. Thanks to the media connection, the experiments are suitable for demonstration in the classroom or a lecture theatre.
The following equipment includes extended experiments with transformers:
- E2.2.1.1 Three-phase transformer
- E2.2.1.2 Scott transformer
- E2.2.1.3 AC transformer
- E2.2.1.5 AC toroidal transformer
