All-purpose heavy-duty three-phase inductive load with adjustable power consumption up to 0.47 kvar. The inductance of each phase is separately adjustable in 15 steps from 16 H to 1.07 H. Coloured LED strips on the front indicate the status of the load.
The load is designed for teaching the basics of power electronics and power engineering to trainees or students.
It provides three different modes of operation.
Direct manual control via buttons on the device: In this stand-alone mode, no further control devices are required, and the load can easily be integrated into existing set-ups. Both, balanced load configurations and unbalanced configurations are supported.
Remote control: The inductive load can also be controlled via the analog input 0 V ... 10 V, e.g., with the Power Analyser CASSY Plus. This allows a direct control of balanced load levels as well as a triggered or scenario-based switching of the inductors. For control via the Power Analyser CASSY Plus, both the CASSY Lab 2 measurement software and the Lab Docs interactive instruction sheets can be used. Scenarios are made possible by the LabView support of the Power Analyser CASSY Plus.
With the analog control input, the unit can be used in many applications, e.g. in control engineering.
Triggered switching: Triggered switching of a user defined balanced or unbalanced load configurations is also possible via the control input. In this way, the influence of loads on transformers or generators can be investigated and demonstrated.
In each mode, the load can be switched off immediately via the OFF button.
As a compact unit, it can be used in a panel frame or as a table-top unit.
For cooling, load-controlled fans allow for a continuous operation.
To detect a critical overload, the phases are monitored individually for overtemperature.
An internal phase detection system ensures that switching takes place at the ideal time, so that experiments are easily reproducible and spikes in voltage are avoided.
